Tomorrow is the last day to register to vote in VA! I hope everyone in this class is registered, this is a really important election where the youth vote will make a huge difference.
I hate to toot my own horn, but in my internship at The Free Lance-Star I’ve been put on the “election beat” and I’ve written a bunch of news articles about registration for this election. Fredericksburg has the 10th highest growth in registration in the state! Here’s the article:

Why do you guys think registration has increased so much in this election? I recently interviewed someone at the State Board of Elections who told me that 42% of new voters in Virginia are under the age of 25. The youth is mobilizing! I hope all of you are registered and get a chance to go out a vote in Nov, no matter who you vote for, it’s so important to exercise your civic right!
Well, one fairly obvious reason for the great uptick in registration is that the Obama campaign has done an excellent job getting people on the streets, sidewalks, neighborhoods etc., armed with clipboards and prepared to register people on the spot. Every day so far I’ve seem at least two people from the Obama campaign on the main campus throroughfare, asking everyone if they’re registered. I personally was browbeaten by my parents into registering a few months ago… people seem to be pretty intense about this election. I wasn’t particularly concerned about the possible outcome of the race until McCain chose Palin as a running mate- now I’m terrified of what would happen should he win.
