In the spirit of Halloween, I thought I’d talk a little about people dressing up as the candidates for Halloween. Apparently, according to this Martha Stewart blog, the CEO of Spirit Halloween, a popular costume company, was on a radio program and he informed the viewers that Barack Obama’s mask was outselling John McCain’s mask, 69% to 31% to be exact. It’s funny how the election seems to affect everything, even Halloween. I can’t tell you how many people I know who are going to be Sarah Palin for Halloween this year. Even I dressed up as her a couple of weeks ago at a costume party!
Let’s see if the numbers are this good for the Democrats on Tuesday!

I actually saw that McCain mask for real at the Palin rally on Monday, and I think I stared in horror for much longer than was necessary.
But I love the political-themed costumes. Yeah, Sarah Palin is probably going to be a little bit overdone this year (and to be honest, no one will ever come close to Tina Fey, not even Palin herself), but people always get creative and the nerd in me will never get over the “Hanging Chad” costume I saw the other year.
In an election that has taken on such a serious tone, especially in the October rush of attack ads, it’s nice to see people finding humor in this entire situation and poking fun at the ridiculousness that the election season cannot avoid.
So laugh at all of the Joe the Plumbers and Hillary Clintons and yes, the Sarah Palins. And Saturday morning we’ll all be serious and committed to our candidates of change once again.
