[...] Professoer John Morello’s Communication 370 course (or “Communication and the 2008 Presidential Campaign”) provides a really powerful model for using a course as a video publishing platform, a space for critical media studies, as well as a forum for discussion about the election as it unfolds. Each of the students in this course created their own short speech in support of their candidate of choice (you can see examples here) which were created by the students on a third-party service of their choice (you can see the technical guidelines for the video creation process here).
i thought your speech was very informative. it included a lot of the key issues in the election. you not only touched upon those issues but explained them, explained obamas veiws on them, and why his views would benefit our country. it hought the part about improving our foreign relations was very good and definately something our country needs to improve upon. i liked how you included how obama knows what its like to have financial troubles. overall i thought your speech was really good. great eye contact and a great delivery as well.

I completely agree with you. Right before the VA voter registration deadline I decided to register in Fredericksburg. I finally got my voter card last Tuesday and this weekend especially I've gotten about 4 calls and 2 people at my door reminding me to get out to vote for Obama on Tuesday.

I've canvassed a bunch of times so I know how awkward it can be to walk up to someone's house and talk to them about voting, so it was really interesting to be the person being canvassed!

Quayle was attacked for being a buffoon. People attack GW Bush for being too folksy with his language and making silly mannerisms. People have attacked Bill Clinton for being a pig. Guess what? Attacking people is part of politics. !
Crying foul on attack on Sarah Palin winking just furthers the belief that women should be treated differently. They should not! Change the ad around and put Joe Biden in the ad with his goofy smirk. It's still a good attack. It still paints a candidate that looks pompous not presidential.
Now analyzing the ad further it takes great care to attack McCain's choice of Palin not her directly. I believe this shows a fear on the Obama campaign to attack her. In the end though I believe it is more than fair to call into question her predardiness just like it is to question whether Obama is ready.

Raising taxes on those who earn $250,000 is a tough sell to me. In the current economic climate those who make $250,00 are hurting too. They are the people who are losing the money in the stock market and seeing the prices of there homes plummet. When their taxes go up they are going to be the first to cook at home instead of going out, they are going to be the first to mow their own lawn, and they are going to be the first to stop buying luxury items. Is the Obama tax plan going to create wealth and opportunity or is it simply a socialist endeavor. I am going to vote for Obama but I think the man will need intense public pressure and pressure from Congress to build the nation back up and pay off the debt not spreading the wealth around.

In this season the charge is based on a false equivalency premise. I suggest that reporting the facts can appear biased if the facts pretty much support one side.

The viral email I got earlier this week was especially notable for the false witness it contained and for the way it introduced, as is too usual these days, the issue of race.

So I wrote a <a href="http://www.FairAndUnbalanced.com?http://www.testimoanials.com/blog/blog1.php/2008/10/31/why-some-of-my-best-friends" rel="nofollow">reply posted here</a>.

Emilie,

I understand what you mean by seeing the smiles on people's faces. I went to the rally and was surrounded by people with hope spread on their faces. It was insane, and yet, at the same time it was amazing to see how somebody like Obama can produce such hope for so many people. Obama may lack the experience that Clinton and Edwards has, but his charisma and intelligence through picking Joe Biden as his running mate outdoes anything that John McCain can dish out. I, too, was on the fence for a little bit, but seeing how Barack's message of hope has put so many smiles on so many faces, I can see why we both want him for president. I only hope that he produces what he promises, and not betray his supporters.
