Getting started on this site is pretty easy. Here are the steps to follow:
I. Becoming an author on this blog
1) Go to http://umwblogs.org and get a blog or a username (your choice), but you only need a username to author posts on this site.
2) Once you’ve gotten a username, make sure you’re logged in to UMW Blogs (you can do that here http://umwblogs.org/wp-admin). Then navigate to this blog http://comm370a.umwblogs.org/) and click on the Add me button in the right-hand sidebar.
3) Once you have completed this step, you can now login to the Communications 370a blog and write posts (you’ll see the login/siteadmin link below the Add me button).
II. Adding a Video to this blog
1) To add video to this site, you will need to create a video and upload it to a third-party site like YouTube, Blip.tv (recommended), Vimeo, or some other service of your choice. The one caveat is that which ever site you use, ibe sure it allows you to embed your video in an other site.
2) Once you have uploaded your video to another site, you now ned to embed it using the Anarchy Media Player:
When writing a post or page in your blog, look for the little yellow “A” icon in the visual text editor and click on it.
Click for original, larger version on Flickr here.
Next, paste the URL (not the embed code, just the URL) provided by the respective online video service in the dialog box. For certain video sites, the actual URL in the web browser field is not always the correct URL- for example, in YouTube you can find the correct URL in the field to the right of the video. Keep in mind that Anarchy will play just about any media (such as mov files, mp3 files, mp4 files, etc.), you just need to copy and paste the URL into the dialog box.
That’s it, just be sure to categorize your video properly and you’re all set!
